About the Artwork

In Pulilan, Bulacan, May is dedicated to glorifying an otherwise lowly animal, the carabao, whose horns and hooves are polished. They are led to the Church to be blessed and garlanded and in reverence to the patron saint, San Isidro.

After the fiesta, the carabao returns to the fields to plow.

Using vibrant and contrasting colors along with detailed depictions of people, animals, and food, it conveys a sense of festivity, celebration, and community joy.
