About the Artwork
Inspired by the bible verse Jeremiah 17:9, which says, “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who knows how bad it is?"
I was torn between "Here Comes the Boogeyman" or "Here Comes the Temptation" to be this artwork's title, but I agreed that the former is more appropriate and symbolic in a way that temptations are just like Boogeymen.
In the simplest definition, a boogeyman is a mythical entity with no particular appearance and largely varies across different households or cultures and is used by adults to scare children into good behavior.
This boogeyman, which I depicted in my art, in particular, is the type that lives somewhere in our hearts or, better yet, is a part of our hearts, to begin with--one of the intrinsic qualities which makes us human, that's genuinely lesser of a god and causes us to be fundamentally vulnerable to deceit, flattery, and of course temptation, which eventually leads to sin.
Bold contrasting colors and surreal imagery of hearts with eyes create a dual sense of whimsy and thoughtfulness, exploring themes of observation and emotional connection.

Goldwynn is an architect by profession, but art had always been his passion. He cannot live without art. Although architecture had taught him how to channel his artistic skills into his largely technical work as an architect, there was always a void that only the freedom to express in art can fill. He would like to create art for as long as he lives; to impart his humanity to other people-- whether to instill awe or wonder, convey his sadness or celebrate joy, unravel the secrets of death, or exalt life in its simplest form--is what he'd love to do. He does not regard himself as an artist with a distinct style, although people familiar with his art do say that he has. He believes one doesn't have to limit himself to a certain style, especially when art in its very nature has limitless possibilities.
