About the Artwork
A regal representation of the "Dalagang Filipina," a term used for Filipino women praised for their modesty, elegant composure, and poised demeanor; this painting portrays such character. Beautifully dressed in a "Maria Clara" gown of intricate lacework and embroidery, she poses outdoors on a veranda with such noble air yet with sentimental depth in her gaze and warmth in her smile.
Rich earthy tones in combination with contrasting bright colors create a balance that evokes tranquility. The soft, flowing textures of fabric and the birds in motion further emphasize a peaceful and harmonious mood.
