About the Artwork

I made this series of paintings to experiment with different styles of techniques and approaches. I chose a landscape subject that is a familiar scene to me growing up in my hometown at San Isidro, Nueva Ecija. Almost everyone there has a farmer relative or friend. Nueva Ecija is also known as the “Rice Granary of the Philippines." I started painting the subject from realistic to total abstraction.

    San Isidro, Philippines

    Jason Ray has 16 artworks,
    and is available for
    commissioned work.

Jason Ray is a freelance graphic artist and painter. He has graduated with an advertising degree but making paintings, drawings, and sculptures is more of his passion. He also took a master's degree in fine arts that focuses on painting and sculpture. More into stylized and abstract art, his works are  inspired by his childhood experiences in the province and his favorite songs, stories, movies, or series. He mainly uses acrylics for painting, which he finds very flexible, durable, and comfortable to use since it has a faster drying time and uses less mineral spirits than oil. Before he starts painting, he does around five studies, and then he combines the best elements. He does multiple layers to ensure solid colors; he is meticulous when making lines.
