About the Artwork
All of these symbolize of what life has to offer. The game of chess, for me, is almost identical to the experiences we had. Like chess, every move and decision can either bring a negative and positive outcome. Time, rules, and guidelines are critical to continue the game.
Every piece has a role and must move and mobilize. The part of the pawn is not only to protect the king but also to become a queen. Regardless of how difficult the situations, decisions, sacrifices, losses, and wins are part of the game.
So as life, we live in this world with timelines and deadlines; we have to fit in the social norms for us to be accepted; we have the role in pursuing our goals; we have to act according to the rules of the world where we live; we have to protect our inner ego. Then be focused, fierce, and consistent with what we want to become.
Despite the pressures that life has to offer, we have to live our life to the fullest. In the end, when definite times come, we're no longer puppets of this world, and time and space are no longer relevant to our existence.
Strong contrasts and muted tones contribute to a sense of depth and thought. Symbolic elements like the chess piece, the clock, and the calendar further enhance the mood of strategy and contemplation.

Not too long ago, Ruel considered himself as a nominal artist. He appreciated art as he enjoys nature more often. However, because of the social norm that one had to work after college graduation, he spent half of his life working as a production associate and data analyst encoder in a BPO company. Until the situation hit him hard, and finally decided to start over as an aspiring artist. He has then studied art and now holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with major in Political Science.
