About the Artwork
“Salakot” depicts the Filipino farmers in Northern Luzon who were economically struggling during the Great Depression.
Soft blends of bright yellow and warm brown tones, contrasted by subtle blues and whites, create a calm yet introspective feel. The gentle shading and detailed features evoke a mood of quiet contemplation and thoughtful observation.
