Q&A with Hancel Quinicio

Why do you create art?
I love art. It is something that defines or shows my emotion. My favorite subject or theme is nature. I want to show how beautiful nature is through my paintings and urge people to take care of it.
My inspirations are my loved ones, my family, and, most of all, God. I offer everything to them, especially to my late grandfather, who also was an artist. I want to follow in his footsteps and continue his legacy.

How do you make this type of art?
I am an artist who loves nature because it is where I find peace and happiness. I mostly use acrylic on canvas when painting because it dries quickly and easier to use.
I start by sketching on paper or canvas. I choose a subject that strikes my interest, such as landscape, seascape, and everything about nature. Usually, it takes a week to finish a single painting because my time to paint depends on my availability and my mood--sometimes.

What were the challenges you faced as an artist?
When I was in college, I developed my interest in painting, but I couldn't provide myself with the materials needed because I was financially challenged at that time until I found a job and was able to buy painting materials. As an artist, I have already encountered many challenges and would be facing a lot more, but it will not hinder me from pursuing my dreams.
