Mandaluyong City, Philippines—Known for abstract art, Renaissance Art Gallery launches RENAISSANCE XX, a 20th-anniversary and month-long exhibition at the Art Center, 4/L Bldg. A, SM Megamall, showcasing a collective presentation of the recent works of artists who were part of the gallery’s history.
Co-founders and curators Manuel and Agnes Romero said Renaissance art, a period in Europe’s storied history distinguished by Classical learning and wisdom, inspired the formation of the Renaissance Art Gallery. Two decades ago, the Romeros helped pave the way for the revival of Philippine modernism in the visual arts, led today by the young emerging generation of Filipino contemporary artists.
RENAISSANCE XX features works by celebrated visual artists Hermes Alegre, Melbourne Aquino, Max Balatbat, Naomi Banal, Bien Benitez, Gil Bien, Benji Bisaya, Remy Boquiren, Arley Carig, Addie Cukingnan, Egai Fernandez, Sonny Fernando, Irish Galon, Richard “Goma” Gomez, Allain Hablo, Helena, Rick Hernandez, Juan Sajid Imao, Malcolm Infante, Josef Laureano, Alice Atienza-Lee, Marlon Magbanua, Sio Montera, Jayson Pettz Muring, Jonathan Olazo, Sam Penaso, Jay Ragma, Cid Reyes, Genesis Rovero, Aner Sebastian, Resty Tica, Jun Tiongco, Valen Valero, Lydia Velasco, Melissa Villaseñor, Meneline Wong, Janice Young, and Orley Ypon.
