Meet Mark Nieva, an art supervisor and digital designer who started drawing at four. Over the years, this passion has become a profession, focusing on digital design and exploring realism in commissioned artworks.
Mark dreams of becoming a full-time visual artist and a cook. His painting “Mumunting Pangarap” was inspired by this dream of his. The fusion of art and cooking drives the heartwarming story behind the painting, where his nieces served as models. These two natural models are also Mark’s constant companions in his home studio and the kitchen.
“Mumunting Pangarap,” 24″ x 36″ acrylic on canvas,
is now on display at Work of Love Café in Buting, Pasig City.
He expresses deep gratitude for showcasing his painting in one of his favorite places–a coffee shop. The joy in his heart is immense as he envisions his artwork being admired by every visitor to the coffee shop.
I aspire for customers to be genuinely inspired, not just amazed, by every artwork on display while sipping their coffee.
He profoundly desires the audience to experience the joy of pursuing one’s dreams, emphasizing the commitment and hard work to bring those aspirations to reality. He’s also dreamed of opening his own artsy café catering to art and coffee enthusiasts. He’d like to inspire others and provide a creative space for fellow artists.
Mark advises those pursuing their dreams like him, “Keep pushing yourself towards your dreams; you’re the one who is in control of it. Take small steps, don’t lose hope after setbacks, and stay optimistic. Remember, quitters don’t win.”
“Success may take time, but with persistence, it will come. Dare to pursue your dreams, believe in yourself, and trust God.”
Mark’s work is on display at the Work of Love Café, Tri-Ax Two Center, San Guillermo Avenue, Buting, Pasig City, until February 29, 2024. — Toby Denise Concepcion
