Peter Bruce is a Cebu-based artist born and raised in London. His love for photography made him appreciate art and become passionate about it, leading him to a broadcast and media career. This allowed him to travel and see beautiful things through his lens.
Upon settling in Cebu, he discovered a new passion—watercolor painting, which wasn’t a surprise because his mother, a watercolorist, played a massive role in his choice of art medium.
Peter focuses on a mixed-medium process combining photography and painting. Blending the precision of photography with the fluidity of the watercolor reflects his artistic growth.
His go-to and favorite subjects are street scenes around the local barangays in Cebu. For Peter, these moments capture captivating moments, snapshots of ordinary life that evoke a sense of nostalgia and warmth, as he notes, “With time, the way of life will change.”
“A Street Scene Barangay Luz, Cebu,” 21″ x 16″ watercolor on paper,
is on display at Bintana Coffee House, Cebu City.
As he reflects on his creative journey, he shares his goal of continuously creating adventurous pieces that showcase the local environment-preserving the spirit of the streets he calls home.
