"Kayod" was inspired by an article published by Rappler Philippines in 2016. The report, written by Mara Cepeda, revolves around the six practices in combatting child labor in the Philippines' sugarcane industry.
The narrative begins as the 18-year-old Harel Ben Conejar tells his story of how he worked in the sugarcane farms at eight. He was forced to work to pay for his living and school expenses.
